Shared Parental Responsibility

Half the marriages in Volusia County end in divorce. The need for assistance in Managing the new roles of divorced parents has never been greater. Little practical information exists to help parents chart their way through complicated legal and emotional responsibilities.

• Family Court judges and lawyers are concerned about the repetitive court appearances of parents doing battle over children.

• Schools are concerned over the discipline and learning problems these children often have.

• Parents are left feeling helpless and unsupported.

In response to this need, Family Therapy Center has developed a Shared Parental Responsibility Program to provide legal and ethical guidelines for parents (both voluntary and court ordered) to cooperatively continue to parent their children from two households.
